Bring The Right Equipment: Bag-pods

The Bag-o-Pods

Let's say, for instance, that you don't have room for a tripod, monopod, or even a tentaclepod. What you want is just something that will let you place your camera on a fairly level, albeit uneven surface, and tilt slightly one way or another.

What you're thinking about is perhaps a small malleable bean bag under your camera.... yes, they make them!

These are great for when the only surface nearby is an old stone wall with nooks and crannies, preventing you from keeping the horizon level.

If you are the proud owner of a fairly long, and large, lense, you can also use this as a padded brace, reducing vibrations and giving you a stead point to swivel from.

The only downside is that these devices are fairly bulky and really don't compress well... if at all.

Some folks have also been able to make their own, using small bean bags, with zippers, and carrying them to their destination empty, then just filling them with whatever is handy.
