For Sale :: Konica Minolta Maxxum 7D Bundle (used)!

Selling Off My Konica Minolta Maxxum 7D DSLR, 28-100mm Kit Lens, and batteries/accessories

Konica Minolta Maxxum 7D DSLR with Anti-Shake technology. Front view with body cap on.

Well, that special time of the year has arrived... that time to upgrade my photography gear. This year, I'm upgrading my DSLR body from the Maxxum 7D to the Sonly Alpha 700. I can still use my lenses and flash gear with the new camera, but my batteries are not compatible with it, so instead of maintaining two differing bodies, I'm selling off my Konica Minolta Maxxum 7D DSLR. I love this camera, but selling it off will also help pay for the new camera body. :)

Here is the link to the Ebay Auction, which lasts for just 5 days from the date of this posting!!

For those interested in getting a GREAT DSLR for a killer price, check out my auction!

Getting Ready For HDNA... High Definition Photographic Display!

High Definition Photographic Displays

One of the vexxing issues that some photographers deal with is the lack of parity, when it comes to trying to convey the sense, or the experience of what they have captured and/or created, to their audience. Granted, an 8x10 print is nice, using one of the readily available consumer photo printers, like the Canon Pixma photo printers or perhaps, one of the Epson Stylus photo printers. For those who can afford a little bit more, an 10x13 or 13x19 print is better. Even more so, a 17x24 would be awesome, but one of those wall dwarfing prints from a 72" wide format printer, would be staggering... but then again, so would the price!

What if you didn't want to go the paper route? Say... you wanted to show off your creative works at home or in a studio for a potential client, but you still wanted to convey that sense of space and presence? Time for some HDMI enabled high definition televisions and displays!

This is made more and more accessible with new cameras coming out, like the Sony Alpha 700, Nikon D300, Nikon D3, Canon 1D MKIII and Canon 1Ds MKIII.

Creative Holiday Macro Photography! ( Fun with long lenses and extension tubes! )

Tis The Season To Be... Photographing!

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA
Cover image

Okay, that is most likely one of the worst title lines I've written. However, the holiday seasons really are more than just a time to be stuck at a mall, fighting with relatives, or wondering for the N'th time, why EVERYONE ELSE is so annoying. It's also that special time of year to reflect and take in the smaller things.

In this case, it's a great time, to grab your camera slap on the macro or extension tubes, and take a closer look at things.

It's time for a little creative holiday close-up/macro photography!

What It Means To Be A Konica Minolta... er... Sony... er... Non-Canon/Nikon Shooter

The Dreaded Question: Are You A Canon or Nikon Shooter?

Cover image

Whether I'm just admiring someone else's photograph, fielding a question from someone who's interested in photography, on site, somewhere, shooting, or talking with prospective models and/or folks I work with... I'm inevitably asked that magic question: Do you shoot with a Canon or Nikon?

I am rarely ever asked, what kind of camera I shoot with, or who makes my camera. I'm never asked if I'm shooting with an Olympus, Pentax, or Sigma. Inevitably, it always seems to come down to the big two: Canon and Nikon.

For the record, I'm a Konica Minolta/Sony photographer. Started using Minolta/Konica Minolta cameras because they just felt right, and it looks fairly good, that I'll follow their business over to Sony's Alpha 700(A700). Similar feel, and I'm invested in the system.

So, being the shooter that I am, how do I answer these folks?

The Panasonic Lumix FZ18/FZ18Z/FZ18K 18X Optically Stabilized Zoom Camera

Something Fun To Zoom About!

Cover image

Whenever I'm asked, "What was your favorite camera to shoot with?" I invariably think back to my versatile Olympus C2100UZ. It had a 10X optical zoom and was image stabilized. Have a live preview screen, and took great pictures, even given that it was a mere 2MP.

Olympus has since passed out of my mind, but I've been noticing a different company carrying that fun to zoom torch: Panasonic.

The Panasonic Lumix series of cameras are long zooms, and their recent addition is no exception to this rule: 18X optical zoom, image stabilized.

That's a pretty sweet camera.

Not only can it go long, it can also go wide, record 30fps video, and accept a host of attachments allowing for very close macro, even wider vantage points, and right angle shooting, for those who like to capture without being noticed.

Getting Ready For Halloween Photographs!

Halloween, A Time of Costumes and Photography In The Night!

Cover image

Look, it's that time of year. You, as a photographer, have several things in your favor, towards creating a very strong selection of photographs, capturing this time of the year:

  • People are decorating their front porches!
  • People are dressing up and wandering the streets!
  • People might be coming to your home, in costume!
  • Fall colors are in! Literally!
  • Pumpkins EVERYWHERE!
  • Tons of smiling faces, demanding only candy...

Sounds like Halloween, other than being an overly commercialized holiday, is a great time to get some photography practice in! No need to hire models, for they walk the streets! The whole of city blocks have become one large studio, for those who are willing to brave them!

So... what's stopping you?

Christmas for Photographers... New DSLR Bodies ( Canon Edition )

Extra Pro Bodies From The Canon Camp!

Cover image

As a followup to my Nikon DSLR Body Christmas posting, let's take a look at the Canon offerings for gift shoppers, looking to find a new body for their Canon photographer!

Fresh off the manufacturing line is the Canon 40D. A strong upgrade to the 30D body, with just about every specification upgraded or improved upon. If the one you are shopping for is the proud and happy owner of a 10D, 20D, or perhaps one of the Rebel line cameras and has been thinking of upgrading, the 40D will prove to be an excellent upgrade choice. ( Canon EOS 40D 10.1MP Digital SLR Camera (Body Only) ).

Cover image

But, say your friend wants to REALLY upgrade, or is the proud owner of a 1-series camera... perhaps the Mark II? Well, Canon has you covered as well, as they have introduced the Canon 1D Mark III. 10 mega pixels and incredible shooting speeds, makes this camera body a must have for the serious wildlife, sports, and fast action photographers. ( Canon EOS 1D Mark III 10.1MP Digital SLR Camera (Body Only) )

New Nikon DSLR Bodies! ( Nikon Edition )

The First, Second, and Spare DSLR Body

Cover image

Most photographers who are using their gear professionally, employ two camera bodies. Their primary body, and their secondary. There are benefits to this, aside from looking cool, and having a spare. You can have both wide and long lenses mounted at the same time! No need to fumble with switching out a lens, you can just put down one camera and pick up the other camera. Fast, effective, and less missed shots.

If the person you are shopping for has a body already, now is the time to figure out what new body they'd like to upgrade to... or perhaps just another body of the same make/model?

Cover image

If they are shooting with a Nikon D200, perhaps it's time to upgrade to the Nikon D300 and keep the D200 as their secondary. Both are great performers and produce quality photographs, not to mention the ability to use the same lenses and flash units. ( Nikon D200 10.2MP Digital SLR Camera (Body Only) ).

If your photography friend shoots with the D40X, perhaps it's time for them to receive a D80? ( Nikon D80 10.2MP Digital SLR Camera Body + Nikon MB-D80 Battery Grip + Extra Nikon EN-EL3e Battery ).

Christmas For Photographers... 2007!

What To Buy For the Shutterbug This Christmas? ( Gift Shopping For The Nikon Shutterbug )

Cover image

Got a loved one or friend who's shooting with a Nikon camera? Well, if there's one thing that my friends and family have figured out... I'm hard to shop for. Most folks who are really into a particular activity, will usually have it in mind, what they want.

For the Nikon shooter, there is, of course, a choice list of things, which one might want... this is, of course, only a suggestion and the actual person you are shopping for, may already have the item(s) and/or have other things they want. Never hurts to ask!
