Wow, all I can say is... I'm going to be on a continual waiting experience for the replacement for my current phone. Each new generation seems to be better and better. Note that I say this referring, really, only to Sony Ericsson, Nokia, and possibly LG.
What gets me about these new phones from Sony Ericsson is that they continue to offer the strong BlueTooth support, nice and simple candybar design, as well as the ability to access the high speed cellular networks, available in the United States. On top of that, they take great pictures and from the white papers for both of these phones, they will be able to take some nice video clips, and save all of it onto an expandable memory card, which expands the phones' storage ability from what is already a generous amount.
Having said that... let's look at what Sony Ericsson's two new phones have to offer the photographer who doesn't want to carry or spend on a seperate dedicated point and shoot.

In Search Of A Photographer's Smartphone
I've been a very happy user of the Sony Ericsson W810i for the last year and change. It was a wonderful phone with it's auto-focus 2.1MP built in digital camera. No match for a real digicam or a DSLR, but still, handy to have when there's that one shot you want, when all you have is your camera phone!
Recently, at work, I've been assigned a Blackberry device. It's basically a smartphone. Hate the interface. Hate the fact that it doesn't have any camera features. Hate the fact that it's bluetooth is crippled and it does not support multimedia features in the least.
However, I loved the keypad for texting and I love the email support.
When the Apple iPhone arrived, I was in multi-media love.. but for the lack of a real keyboard, the lack of support for enterprise messaging services, the lack of support for a real digicam... 2.1MP for a 2007 product!?
So, when I heard about Sony Ericsson's P1i, I fell in love.
