Photoshop CS3: Final release details

Adobe has today fleshed out its release plans for the next version of Photshop. As reported earlier there will be two versions made available when it begins shipping next month. The standard edition will be familiar to existing users whilst a second 'extended' release will be aimed at industries as diverse as medicine, architecture and 3D design which already use image manipulation packages but require specific tools and features not currently included in Photoshop. Two New Sony Alpha DSLR Bodies!!

This is seriously what I've been waiting for, higher end models for the camera line that I've grown accustomed to. :) According to an interview, unfortunately in Japanese, but available translated from the Dyxum forums , Sony is announcing two new bodies for the Sony Alpha line. One, pictured on the left above, is a midrange model, which is a step up from the A100 consumer grade level camera. Though not exactly a replacement for the 7D(Alpha-7), it will be comparable. The unit on the right is the high end "professional ready" body. From the looks of the chamber above the body, it looks like they are planning for a larger and brighter viewscreen. Anime Expo 2007 (June 29th through July 1st) Photoshoot Invitation

Hey! Anime Expo is just around the corner and I'll be traveling down to the Long Beach, California area to attend the Anime Expo event. During this time, I'll be hauling my photography gear with me, and so will be quite well equiped to work with models and makeup artists on photoshoots.

I'll be scouting out locations both at the convention site and at nearby locales.

There should be a law about late night postings....

The morning after writing my thoughts on the 7D and how the A100 would never replace it, since it was essentially a 5D body, I went to dpreview and took a look at their full review.  Yes, it is really a 5D body, but the internals are definitely different. Mostly, for the better, I think.

While I will gripe about hand-feel and the rugged body of the 7D, I do have complaints about the camera memory to card performance of the 7D. I have the latest firmware update, so the camera performs well, but still... it could be better. :) » Read More »»

Nikon D40X and preview - Pre-PMA 2007: Just under four months since the D40 and Nikon has announced an upgraded ten megapixel version of the camera. The new Nikon D40X is essentially identical to the D40 apart from its ten megapixel CCD, a lower base sensitivity of ISO 100 and faster continuous shooting (now up to 3.0 fps). Obviously the competitive target for this camera is the Canon EOS 400D (Digital Rebel XTi), and it is clearly priced to achieve that at $799 including the 18-55 mm kit lens. Wow, The Nikon D40 didn't seem all that worthwhile, especially when you compare it to its older siblings, the Nikon D80 or the Nikon D200. However, with the Nikon D40X, the specs definitely make it a great  camera for someone who want's to try out Nikon's line of fine products(lenses, flashes, etc), without spending too much on the body.
