As e-Readers race towards the razer blade model...

With Apple's iPad having been announced, rumours are surfacing that Amazon may start giving away the Kindle in hopes that it will spur their sale of ebooks. This would most likely spur a downward spiral in price for other ebook readers, with some kind of buy X number of books over the course of the next couple of years. Very similar to the get X books for free now, but you will need to buy Y books at a special price over the next year. That, or the razor blade model, where you get the shaver at discount prices, but the razors, you have to get at a premium.

Some Thoughts On The B&N Nook e-reader

I've seen the Sony e-readers and the Amazon Kindle. Both had great features that I really liked, but neither one really struck a chord with me. When B&N announced the Nook, I was immediately taken by the possibilities. Thanks to some foot dragging on my part, I ended up on the Feb 1st delivery date batch and got mine a little early, so I've had about a week to play with mine. Here are my thoughts on the Nook, it's strengths, weaknesses, and thoughts for improvement.

In Short: I like it enough to keep it, despite the iPad coming out next month in March.
